Style and framing guide for illustrations

Intermediate14 minCommunity & art

Composition, palette, and framing tips to make your artwork stand out in the gallery.

  1. Choose a clear framing

The Pokémon should fill at least 60% of the canvas. Simple backgrounds work best.

  2. Use the type palette

The Pokémon type colors help your artwork integrate with the detail page.

  3. Mind the resolution

Work at 2000×2000 minimum and export at 800×800. Looks sharp on every screen.

A good illustration is not just technique — it’s also composition and color choices.

Framing

Center the Pokémon and leave breathing room. Subtle gradient backgrounds work better than solid white.

The palette

Use the type colors as a guide. Fire with oranges and reds, Water with blues and grays.
